Opening with muted nursery rhyme xylophone and Æ Mak's distinctively delivered vocals, new single "We Have It Right Here" is the most recent art-pop offering from the Irish artist.
"We Have It Right Here" is full of unexpected twists and turns, its fluid, mutable structure skipping from electronic chamber pop to a chorus defined by plump, growling bass. Xylophones tinkle, classical guitar echoes the antique sound of a harpsichord, and ghostly vocal samples swerve briefly into earshot before darting away. After a couple of minutes, the track is consumed by urgent synth lines, raining down into its delicacy like a hail of arrows before disappearing as swiftly as they arrived.
With its simple lyrical structure and sing-song vocals, "We Have It Right Here" could have been a simple song on paper. Its production – something akin to that of Sylvan Esso or tUnE-yArDs – is the final piece of the puzzle, elevating the track to bizarre, beautific new heights for Æ Mak.
