Getting Rich In The Recession - Scrappers 28 November 2013

Tonight a new insight into Scrapyard merchants making lots of money off the back of the recession - music composed by James McWilliam, produced by Firecracker Films.

Documentary exploring the booming scrap-metal industry, with access to a scrapyard in Sydenham, south-east London. More than a million tons of electrical waste is thrown away each year, and most of it still works, while old sinks, pots, pans, window frames and chairs are discarded without a moment's thought. There to collect these items are the teams who, through hard graft and a keen eye for an opportunity, are earning a crust due to the soaring cost of metal.
