Birger has composed music for a number of German and UK arthouse feature films, as well as Netflix series and multiple award-winning tv dramas & documentaries. His latest work is on intergenerational drama Morgen war Krieg (Echo of Tomorrow’s War), for which lead actor Enno Trebs was named European Shooting Star 2026.
He also composed the score for queer arthouse dramas Die Geschwister (Brother&Sister) and Auf der Suche (Looking for Simon), which screened at Berlinale 2011, as well as Alexandra McGuinness’ UK feature film Lotus Eaters, starring Johnny Flynn and Antonia Campbell-Hughes, which premiered at Tribeca Film Festival.
Other UK work include music for two-times Emmy-nominated documentary 9/11: Life Under Attack.
German Netflix drama series Sunshine Eyes dealt with the repercussions of the covid pandemic on the life of a number of neighboring families in Berlin.
Birger is a member of the European Film Academy and German Film Academy, and trained at the National Film & Television School, as well as the ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop in Los Angeles.
